In March 2024, I launched a TikTok account to share my personal story of burnout and speak honestly to those facing mental health challenges while climbing the career ladder. Shortly after, I rebranded it as ‘The Recovering Girlboss.’
I’m on a journey to break free from the toxic girlboss mindset that keeps us stuck. As someone with OCD, I know how high stress can send it into overdrive. Initially, I kept this account separate from my professional life, but now I believe we bring our whole selves into work, and it's our unique experiences and struggles that make us more rounded individuals. The old me would have hidden this, but now I celebrate it.
Since prioritising my personal life and keeping my inner drive in check, my work has improved, and so has the quality of my output. I encourage you to explore your own interests and hobbies that make you you—they’re key to personal and professional growth.
